Hello everyone and Happy 2019,

                This year I’m going to try something a little different.  I’m going to achieve all the goals I set for myself.  I know I know every year I say the same thing.  I’m going to get healthier, lose 20lbs, get a six pack, work on my black girl booty, save a million dollars, etc…..Well, this year is going to be different.  Why?  I have been changing small things about myself over the past four years, and I really like who I have become.  I feel like I am defying my age and transforming into the best LaKima ever.  This year I’m setting up to turn all these no’s into yes’.  I’m going to enjoy each and everyday to the fullest.  I invite you to join me on my journey and together we can all be the very best versions of ourselves.  Let’s spend this year pulling others into our boats instead of watching them drown.   I know some of you feel the same way I do so follow me and lets change the world. 
                So what you can expect to find here is something healthy.  I love working out, and through out the years I have done many workout videos, different fitness plans and challenges.  Yet I have still not found that one workout that perfect for me.  Raise your hand if this sounds like you?  This month I decided to try out daily burn to see if there is something I can add to my current workouts routine.  I currently use two of the Nike apps (NTC, NRC) and I love them both.  NRC now has guided runs with Headspace.  I love it, because sometimes I just want to listen to the ocean when I jog/run.  Headspace adds a mediation aspect to the mix, so at the end you feel a little more relax or hyped for the day, depending on the run you pick.  The plan is simply to get moving and once you have started just keep moving.  I will write about working out but I promise it will not be a go join the gym push or anything like that. 
                My next goal for 2019 is probably on your list as well…….that is to save money.  I plan to save more money by wasting less and minimalizing.    First, I meal plan and use all the stuff I have at home before I go out to buy groceries.  So here you will find some recipes that I like for turning everyday food (and leftovers) into something more interesting.  I’m not a chef, so you won’t find anything to fancy here.  Just something I made following a recipe.  Secondly I like to use everything, so the other things you will see here is homemade cleaning products, utilizing things found around my house (i.e. vinegar, lemon and baking soda).  I do recommend that you download Ibotta.  I use this app a lot when I go grocery shopping.                 My third goal is to maintain my beauty.  I recently had someone point out a bit of sun damage on my face.   Now that I am a Botox certified Nurse, I notice little things that I can change to look my best longer.  With people living longer and longer these day why not try to look your best at every decade.  I have to say that I did get a lip pop a little bit ago, and I really like the way it makes my lips look.  I feel like the little lift that the lip pop added changed my RBF to a pleasant soft smile.  That little changed makes me smile more and people approach me with kindness more too.  Hello red matte lipstick and hello hot boys.  By far the best thing that I have done for my skin was to go back to using Bioré baking soda facial wash.  I love love love it.  My face is so smooth and soft.  Plus my pores look smaller too. 
                Ok my last goal is to read more for pleasure.  I plan to read a book a month.  In honor of MLK Jr. Day and black history month just around the corner, I’m reading an autobiography on Assata Shakur, civil rights activist (the mother Tupac).  I know very little about this time in our history.  It was not a subject taught in any length in school.  I feel like it was only touched on briefly here and there.  So it’s something I always want to know more about.
